The study of the Athesian Volcani Group provides the opportunity to investigate the igneous processes producing large-scale (> 800 km2) silicic volcanism. The research activity consists of detailed fieldwork and geological mapping. Part of the fieldwork is published as sheets of the Geological Map of Italy, 1:50,000 scale (CARG Project). The research activity has been carried out together with the local government bodies.
