The Laboratory of Porosimetry, Limnology and Oceanography, located in via Selmi 3, develops research and teaching activities through analyses of carbonate chemistry in seawater samples and morphological analyses on aquatic invertebrates and biominerals (both marine and freshwater). The laboratory is also used to process samples collected in the field for the available analytic techniques.
Available instruments
In addition to the basic laboratory equipment (e.g., chemical hood, oven, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, precision balances, workbenchs and tables, glassworks), the Laboratory of Porosimetry, Limnology and Oceanography is equipped with:
- Automatic titrator for analyses of carbonate chemistry in water samples
- Porosimetry apparatus through buoyant weight for the determination of bulk density, micro-density and porosity
- 4 binocular microscopes equipped for observation, determination, and manipulation of aquatic invertebrates.
Teaching, training and research activity
The laboratory is available to support the preparation of BSc, MSc, and PhD Theses, and for the implementation of research projects by post-doc fellows and researchers.
