Microtomy and Histology

Preparation of sections for histological investigations.

Teaching and research activities related to sample preparation for the localization of molecular markers. Specifically, paraffin-embedded or agar-embedded samples arrive here for microtome or vibratome sectioning. 

Laboratory Equipment 

The Microtomy and Histology Laboratory features two rotary microtomes for sectioning paraffin-embedded specimens and two vibratomes for sectioning agar-embedded specimens. It also features optical microscopes, thermostatic ovens for drying sections, and cabinets to store samples.
