Biology and ecology of temperate and tropical marine invertebrates (e.g. corals, molluscs) in relation to climate change; multiscale approaches for the study of biomineralized structures (e.g. otoliths) in bony fishes; marine biodiversity monitoring through volunteer involvement (citizen science); effectiveness of environmental education programs on tourist behavior; biology of freshwater species (e.g. anellids, osteichthyes); inland surface waters applied ecology; predictive models for Italian brackish and freshwater fauna management through population studies on fish fauna; zoogeographic distribution models of Italian fish and amphibians, development and calibration of the New Index of Fish Community Ecological State (NISECI).
