Laboratory of Deformation, Fluids and Tectonics
Keywords / Petrographic analysis. Microtextural analysis. Microthermometry
In the Deformation, Fluids and Tectonics laboratory, located in via Zamboni 67 (3rd floor, room 27), we conduct research, teaching and consulting activities. We gather petrographic and geochemical datasets from hand samples, from microtextural studies of thin sections, and from microthermometric determinations of fluid inclusion samples.
Laboratory Equipment
The laboratory is equipped with an Olympus BX31 polarizing microscope for reflected- and transmitted-light petrography connected with a PixeLink-A642 digital camera, a Nikon Eclipse Ci-POL polarizing microscope for reflected- and transmitted-light petrography connected with a Nikon DS-Fi3 digital camera, a Linkam THMSG 600 heating/freezing stage for fluid inclusion microthermometry, and a Nikon SMZ745T binocular microscope.
Laboratory activity
The laboratory hosts bachelor and master students for their thesis and internship projects, as well as Italian and foreign PhD and postdoc fellows for their research activities.
Consulting activity
In the Deformation, Fluids, and Tectonics laboratory we conduct also consulting work for external partners. This activity is carried out at a cost, which is regulated by a price list that is updated regularly.
