Professor Nazir Ismail, Head of the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Wits University in South Africa, will be visiting the Mab Lab group at the Department of BIGEA at the University of Bologna from 12 to 20 January.
This visit is part of the 'Mobility for Teaching' programme, which is funded by the PNRR-TNE.
Professor Ismail is an internationally recognized expert in tuberculosis (TB). His research focuses on TB diagnostics, drug-resistant TB (MDR/XDR-TB), and phenotypic and genotypic drug susceptibility testing.
Professor Ismail will hold several meetings during his visit, and on Friday, 16 January, he will give a seminar entitled 'Highlights of major infectious diseases in South Africa'. This will take place in Aula Rossa at 9:30 am at Via S. Giacomo 12.
Professor Ismail would like to meet the Bigea Department and other research groups interested in the same or related fields, with a view to establishing possible collaborations
